Tenrec
Hemisentetes Semispinosus The streaked tenrec has a long snout, and is stripped black and yellow. It is commonly found in tropical lowland rainforest. It lives in burrows. Its fur has long spines, which it can use for defense, much like a porcupine. It will erect the quills on the crest around its neck. The quills on its back can be used to communicate. They mate in October to December with a gestation period of about 58 days. They usually have a litter of 5-8 young.
